PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance, by reacting a haloethane raw material containing fluorine atom with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenating catalyst comprising rhenium. CONSTITUTION:A haloethane raw material (e.g., 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2,2- and 1,1- dichloro-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane) shown by the formula CF2XCFYG (X is F or Cl; when X is F or Cl, Y and Z are Cl, F or H; when X is Cl, one of Y and Z is F and the other is Cl or H) is reacted with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenating catalyst comprising rhenium at 120-450 deg.C to give the aimed substance shown by the formula CF3CH2F or CHF2CHF2. The hydrogenating catalyst is preferably metal rhenium or an oxide thereof, supported on alumina or active carbon and used. The catalyst has improved initial performance, excellent durability, corrosion resistance and catalytic life. |
