PURPOSE:To damp rotation of a shaft due to the presence of liquid, by a method wherein an inner plate is mounted to a sleeve engaged with the shaft and synchrously rotated only in one way, and is situated in a liquid chamber facing the outer plate of a housing. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 4, following only rotation in a forward direction, is insertedly engaged with the peripheral surface of a part 3B in a liquid chamber 2 of a shaft 3 by means of a pin 6. Inner plates 7 are coupled at equal intervals to the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 4 through respective spacers 8, and outer plates 9 are mounted to a housing body 1A and a spacer, coupled to a spline 1a, so that they are alternately positioned facing the respective inner plates 7. A plurality of pores are formed in the two plates. When the inner plate 7 is rotated following rotation of the shaft, liquid in the liquid chamber 2 is sheared between the inner plate and the outer plate 9 by means of the pores, damping torque due to viscosity is generated, and damping is effected only during forward rotation. |
