A process for the preparation of a nitroxyl of the formula I see diagramm : EP0157738,P6,F1 in which E1 and E3 are independently of one another C1 -C5 alkyl or phenyl, E2 and E4 are independently of one another C1-5 S alkyl or E1 and E2 together or E3 and E4 together are tetramethylene or pentamethylene, and T is a divalent group which, together with the nitrogen atom and the two tertiary carbon atoms, forms a 5- or 6-membered ring by reacting a cyclic secondary amine of the formula II see diagramm : EP0157738,P6,F3 in an inert organic solvent, with an organic hydroperoxide in the presence of catalytic amounts of a metal carbonyl, a metal oxide, a metal acetylacetonate or a metal alkoxide of a metal from groups IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB and VIII of the periodic table, at a temperature of 0 to 200 degrees C and at a molar ratio of hydroperoxide : amine of 50 : 1 to 1 : 10. |
