PURPOSE:To enable stable development by disposing an electrostatic latent image carrier and a magnetic brush support oppositely to each other in such a manner that said carrier and support can be freely relatively displaced and executing development while bringing the magnetic brush and the electrostatic latent image carrier into pressurized contact with each other. CONSTITUTION:A developing device 2 is supported like a pendulum by a fulcrum 5 provided to the frame of an image forming device and is so supported that a developing sleeve 3 comes into contact with a photosensitive drum 1 when there is no magnetic brush on the developing sleeve 3. This contact pressure can be controlled by changing the position where the developing device 2 engaging with the fulcrum engages with a fulcrum engaging seat 6. The contact pressure is, therefore, controlled small and stable or further, the spacing of a development area is automatically determined in accordance with the spacing between the developing sleeve 3 and a napping control member 7 which controls the layer thickness of the magnetic brush. The contact pressure is controlled to a range of 5-200gf/cm linear pressure, more preferably 15-80gf/cm. The uniform toner having a sufficient concn. is thereby formed. |
