A coil for a transformer or a repeating coil has a coil former (41) on whose free ends coil flanges (42, 43) are integrally formed, which run transversely with respect to the coil former. The space between the flanges accommodates both a primary winding (44) and a secondary winding (46), the latter being electrically isolated, in an insulating manner, from the primary winding. In order to improve the filling factor and to simplify the production of the coil former and of the windings, the winding wire (17) of at least the primary winding (44) has a film strip (30) of insulating material wound around it. <IMAGE>
