PURPOSE:To increase long operability and productivity by forming a unit cell with a specific negative electrode, a molten salt electrolyte, and an iron disulfide positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:Lithium is held on the surface of iron powder to form a Fe-Li layer 1 which has no fluidity even in the temperature higher than the melting point of lithium. The Fe-Li layer 1 is accommodated in a metal cup 2, and an aluminium sheet 3 is palced on the Fe-Li layer 1, then they are placed between an upper heating plate 4 and a lower heating plate 5 and heated in an atmosphere of inert gas to the temperature higher than the melting point of lithium, then cooled to solidify. A negative electrode 8 having a Li-Al alloy layer 6 on the electrochemical reaction surface at least is combined with a molten salt electrolyte 9 and an iron disulfide positive electrode 10 to form a unit cell. The unit cell having good productivity and suitable for long operation is obtained. |
