A rotationally symmetrical tool for machining foam, in particular rigid foam, provided with a multiplicity of teeth (2) provided on its circumference is to be designed in such a way that on the one hand reusable chips can be obtained and on the other hand a good workpiece surface is achieved. For this purpose, the tool is equipped on its circumference with a plurality of spirally running rows (3) of teeth (2), the teeth (2) being designed as milling teeth with a rectangular end face. The pitch of the spirally arranged rows of teeth (3) is chosen in relation to the width of the teeth (2) such that, per revolution of the tool of a tooth-free region (4), a tooth (2) produces a row of teeth (3). <IMAGE>
