PURPOSE: To provide headlamp with a small height and with a high efficiency, by reflecting the rays of light in the approximately horizontal direction by a reflector and involving it in forming the luminous flux for road irradiation. CONSTITUTION: A reflector 200 comprises a paraboloidal base part 210 and edge parts 222, 224 in the form of parabolic cylinders focused on a luminous source 102, and in addition there are drifting means 300 which extend, near the filament 102, over the approximately whole height of the headlamp, and which deviate and re-emanate the rays of light R2 received from the source 102 into the approximately horizontal direction, toward the edge parts 222, 224 of the reflector 200. Therefore, a greater portion of the rays of light widely coming up and down such as the rays of light R'2 going into the flanges of the reflector 200 and fading away is thus recovered by one of lenses 302, 304, and it is reflected by the edge parts 222, 224 of the reflector 200 to come into formation of the luminous flux for road irradiation, which enables production of headlamps with a small height and with a high brightness. |
