The invention relates to a cassette-loading device for video-cassette recorders for loading and ejecting a video magnetic-tape cassette by utilising the drive force of a tape-drive motor for both operations. The loading or ejecting of the cassette by means of the drive force of the tape-drive motor takes place by a drive-force changeover unit, having an actuating plate which is arranged pivotally between the tape-drive motor and a cassette-loading unit, a back gearing (toothed) wheel which is mounted rotatably on the lower section of the actuating plate and on which there is integrally formed a pulley connected to a pulley of the tape-drive motor, two idling or intermediate (toothed) wheels which are mounted rotatably with helical (compression) springs, washers and pieces of felt respectively interposed and which are able, according to the direction of rotation of the back gearing wheel, to engage selectively with a loading (toothed) wheel of the cassette-loading unit, and a stop pin which is able to engage selectively in a circular opening or in a straight slot (extending from the latter) of the actuating plate.
