In the case of a device for the central alignment of a windscreen of a motor vehicle when it it is being installed in an associated window opening in the vehicle body, the windscreen has on its edge, which is provided with a screen-printed coating, a window-like first adjustment mark which is left unprinted and has to be aligned by sight with a second adjustment mark provided on the edge of the window opening in the body sheet. A light can be fixed releasably on the outside of the windscreen, in the region of the window-like first adjustment mark, in such a manner that the second adjustment mark is illuminated through the window-like first adjustment mark. As a result, it is possible, in a simple but very effective manner, to compensate for the disadvantage of the unfavourable light conditions generally present in the installation region and to allow the worker to undertake a perfect, central alignment of the windscreen in the associated window opening in the vehicle body.
