For infinitely variable adjustment of the flow rate with a solenoid valve, intended, in particular, for water-mixing batteries, with a housing having inlet and outlet openings and, as a main valve member, a diaphragm which is arranged with a return spring in the housing and can be relieved of pressure by way of an auxiliary valve, the diaphragm is held in the closed position by the return spring after the pressure relief and a change in position of the diaphragm relative to the valve seat is determined by a control piston which is connected to an armature and which undergoes an axial displacement that depends on the excitation of an electromagnet system.
