The invention relates to an appliance for separating and loosening the root system of plants in tree nurseries. So-called vibrating ploughs are known for this purpose. In these appliances, a grubbing cutter is set in oscillating movement and is drawn through under the root system. A disadvantage of these appliances is that only continuous rows of plants can be worked. The design according to the invention of a single-ball lift-out and row grubber appliance now makes it possible to lift out the root balls of individual plants from the plant row, without cutting under the roots of the plants standing alongside. <IMAGE>
