PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of molten metal and to reduce the cost of equipment by forming mold space with upper and lower caterpillar type molds and also rotating the side dam connecting plural side dam blocks through spring body as caterpillar-state. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 32 as shiftable toward width direction of the cast slab with a hydraulic cylinder 31 is arranged at both side parts of the mold 2 forming as connecting plural block molds 1 and the side dam 36 continuing plural side dam blocks 35 is arranged at the upper part of the carriage. Then, coil springs 41 are inserted as caterpillar-state in hollow holes 39 of the whole blocks 35 and tapered parts 42 are arranged at front and rear of the block 35. At the time of supplying the molten metal into the casting space 3, as the blocks 35 are brought into close contact with parts side by side with the springs 41, the leakage of the molten metal into the side part of the space 3 is surely prevented. As length of the side dam 36 is short, the cost of the equipment is reduced. |
