PURPOSE:To obtain a lance-coating material having improved corrosion resistance and spalling resistance, by adding an alkali metal silicate or an alkali metal phosphate to zircon containing silicon carbide and fire clay. CONSTITUTION:The objective lance-coating material is composed of (A) 100 pts.wt. of a zircon mixture containing (a) 2-20 pts.wt. of silicon carbide, (b) 5-15 pts.wt. of fire clay and (c) the remaining part of zircon and (B) 3-10 pts.wt. of at least one kind of alkali metal silicates and alkali metal phosphates. A material having a ZrO2 content of >=60wt.% can be used as the zircon raw material and the material is usually zircon sand, zircon flour, etc., having ZrO2 content of about 65-66wt.%. It is unpreferable to use a material having a ZrO2 content of <60wt.% because of the lowering of corrosion resistance. For improving the workability, the zircon raw material is preferably ultrafine powder having a particle size of <=10mum and obtained by pulverizing zircon sand. |
