PURPOSE:To prevent the development of burrs and the damage of a dam block by arranging gap between the block mold and the facing part in the face at mold space side of the side dam block. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 13 is arranged as shiftable to width direction of the cast slab with a hydraulic cylinder 12 at both sides of width direction of the mold 2 composing plural block molds 1, and caterpillar type side dam 5 connected with a spring 19 is arranged on the carriage. Then, the recessed part 18 forming the prescribed gap (about 0.1-0.3mm) between the block molds 1 at room temp. is arranged on upper and lower faces constituting the mold space 3 of the side dam block 4. At the time of executing continuous casting side facing to the mold space 3 of the side dam block 4 is thermally expanded and the recessed part 18 is eliminated. As the upper and lower faces of the block 4 are flattened, the gap is eliminated and the development of burrs is prevented. As contact face of the dam block 4 with the mold 1 is flat, the damage is prevented. |
