摘要 Catalytic particles (36), electrolytic cell (12), system (10) and method for producing excess heat in an electrolyte (59). The catalytic particles (36) are formed of clay loaded with a metallic hydride forming powder and temperature cured into a ceramic. The electrolytic cell (12) includes a non-conductive housing (14) structured for electrolyte (59) flow and a bed (35) of catalytic particles (36) held between spaced conductive grids (38/44). An electric power source provides current to the grids (38/44) so that, when the cell (12) is filled with electrolyte (59) either flowing or not flowing, the particle bed (35) is initially charged and thereafter, the production of excess heat within the liquid electrolyte (59) is supported. An optional external electrolyte heater (21) can be utilized to enhance excess heat output. A metallic hydride forming thin, uniform layer such as nickel may be added atop the loaded ceramic particles (36) to reduce cell resistance and/or to alter excess heat production. Porosity of the ceramic particles (36) may be varied to enhance excess heat production.
