An electrochemical sensor comprises a casing with a mouth, which casing contains an electrolyte, a measuring cathode and a reference electrode for the measurement of the concentration of oxygen or dinitric oxide (laughing gas), and has a membrane placed in or around the mouth, the electrolyte containing a dissolved oxygen consuming material or substrate in the form of an antioxidant for the purpose of avoiding incorrect measurements due to false oxygen. The sensor can be a nitrate sensor of a type where the measurement of nitrate is made indirectly by measuring the concentration of dinitric oxide (laughing gas), that is a result from nitrate reducing bacteria activity and where the sensor is a laughing gas sensor. A method for removal of false oxygen in an oxygen or dinitric oxide sensor is also disclosed. |
