PURPOSE:To obtain a clear printing image on an enlarged scale, by providing a data compressing step whereby read-out data are enlarged or compressed down to factions of an integer and a printing step whereby the data are printed directly or after being compressed, in addition to a reading/printing step. CONSTITUTION:A compact copying apparatus is comprised of a front case block A constituting a main body of the apparatus, a rear case block B and a chassis block C defined in the main body 1. In each of these blocks A, B and C, there are provided a reading means in which a plurality of photoelectric converting elements are arranged, a printing means in which printing elements are arranged at distances of integral times the distance of the photoelectric converting elements, a designating means which designates an enlarged-scale printing of the read-out data, a data compressing means which compresses the data down to fractions of an integer, and a data processing means which feeds the data to the printing means directly or through the compressing means depending on the fact whether or not the enlarged-scale printing is designated. |
