PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of poor discharge or impossible discharge of ink, by providing a power switch at a carriage the position of which is restricted to a predetermined position when the sheath is an obstacle to the operation of the switch. CONSTITUTION:A power switch 2 which turns on or off the power source for driving the whole of a recording apparatus is provided at a carriage 3. The position of the carriage 3 when the power switch 2 is operable even though the sheath 7 for covering the whole of the recording apparatus including the moving area of the carriage 3 is a barrier to the operation of the switch 2 is restricted to a waiting position of the carriage 3. A window 8 through which an operator inserts his or her finger to manipulate the switch 2 is formed so as to restrict the operable position of the carriage 3, which window is so small that the operator can barely insert his or her finger to operate the switch 2. When the carriage 3 is at the waiting position referred to above, the position of the window 8 in the sheath 7 is opposite to that of the power switch 2. |
