The wefted hair of synthetic filament, e.g. Kanekalon or Modacric, is dyed in a color in the tone of dark to light color from the root toward the tip, such that each hair has the same color at the same portion of a string as with others. The dyed hair is dried at 100 deg.C for 1 hr to be treated at 1-5kg/cm2 in steam. The dyeing also may be made in alternation with two different tones in the direction of wefting of hair strings. The dye composition comprises 100cc thickener, 10g cationic dyestuff, 10g tartaric acid, 30cc glyecine A, 30cc acetic acid, 20cc softener, and 1-4 wt. parts water to the sum of the above. The hair thus dyed shows a natural color tone.
