PURPOSE:To replace character information to another character by providing a means to really convert the character which is converted to the other character, a means for a processing in case of the different code system of a voiced mark, etc., and a means to convert a symbol, etc., except for the character by matching to the character system to be converted. CONSTITUTION:A means B converts an en KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) code which is set by an A-means to an em KANA (Japanese syllabary) code and when the en KANA code is set to a MEMO 2, operation is moved to the means B by the judgement of a CPU. For this conversion, the CPU observes the en code of the MEMO 2 and this code is converted to a shift JIS em KANA code with referring a corresponding table between the en KANA code of a means 11 and the shift JIS em KANA code. Thus, when the en code with the voiced mark is stored to the MOMO 2, the CPU executes a means C to process the voiced mark. In the means C, the CPU observes the contents of the en code of the MEMO 2 and the en code of a MEMO 1 and the corresponding table between with the shift JIS em KANA code is referred. Then, the en KANA code of a means 12 is converted to the shift JIS em KANA code.
