PURPOSE:To stabilize the output property for a long period by forming an electrolyte transfer layer linked to an electrolyte reservoir partially between the electrode base member and a catalyst layer, and engraving penetrating holes linking to a matrix layer, dispersedly on the catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte transfer layer 10 which is drawn out from a reservoir 9 formed at the ends of an electrode is placed between an electrode base member 4 and a catalyst layer 5 at the fuel electrode side. Moreover, in the catalyst layer 5 at the area opposing to the electrolyte transfer layer 10, penetrating holes 12 are engraved linking to a matrix layer 1. In this case, the penetrating holes 12 formed on the catalyst layer 5 are formed as small holes dispersed and opened in the pitch interval 10 to 20mm along the electrolyte transfer layer, or as slits along the electrolyte transfer layer 10. As a result, the feeding and the movement of electrolyte between the matrix layer and the reservoir 9 can be carried out smoothly against the evaporation and scattering of the electrolyte during the operation, and a sudden variation of temperature at the driving and the halting. |
