摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To display an image of high chroma and extremely high color temperature and obtain very superior color reproducibility by making the optical path length of color light of large intensity long corresponding to the light emission intensity distribution of a projection light source and making the optical path length of color light of small intensity short. CONSTITUTION: A dichroic mirror system consists of a light guide 4, a blue reflecting dichroic mirror 5, a green reflecting dichroic mirror 6, and a reflecting mirror 7. Then the dichroic mirror system is so constituted that the optical path length between three liquid crystal light valves 8R, 8G, and 8B and the projection light source 1 is made longest for the color light of the largest intensity of the projection light source 1 and shortest for the color light of the smallest intensity of the projection light source. Further, a driving driver circuit is so constituted that only one of the three liquid crystal light valves makes a right- left inverted display. Therefore, the color lights of the primary colors are balanced to eliminate the need for a filter, etc., and thin film transistors are never caused by light to decrease in performance. Consequently, the device is compact and bright, and superior color reproducibility and high picture quality are obtained.</p>
