NOVEL PHARMACOLOGICAL PREPARATION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To produce a pharmaceutical preparation, comprising a salt of metoprolol coated with a water-insoluble polymeric film and a dihydropyridine dispersed in a nonionic solubilizer, capable of manifesting good absorption and prolonged actions and useful for treating cardiovascular diseases. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical preparation is obtained by mixing small beads, containing a salt of metoprolol which is aβ-adrenoreceptor antagonist (e.g. a succinate) and coated with a water-insoluble polymeric membrane and a dihydropyridine compound that is a poorly water-soluble calcium channel blocking agent (e.g. felodipine or nifedipine) dispersed in a nonionic solubilizer (e.g. a polyethoxylated caster oil or an oxyethylated glycerol) with a matrix capable of forming a swollen gel in contact with water (e.g. hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose).
