PURPOSE:To manufacture a stainless steel having satisfactory toughness and strength by successively subjecting a martensitic stainless steel contg. a specified total amt. of C and N and a specified amt. of Ni to heating, finish hot rolling, cooling and tempering under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A martensitic stainless steel contg. <=0.05wt.% C+N and 1.5-6.5wt.% Ni is heated to <=1,250 deg.C, hot rolled at >=800 deg.C finishing temp., cooled to <=100 deg.C at >={Ni%+100(C%+N%)] deg.C/min cooling rate and tempered in the temp. range of the Ac1 point - the Ac1 point + 100 deg.C. A product having satisfactory strength and toughness is obtd. without reheating. |
