The settee comprises a fixed part 1, 2, 3, 4 comprising two armrests 3 forming the head and the foot of the bed and a movable part formed by a frame of the seat base 5 and a frame of the back base 6 hinged together along a line of hinges 7 parallel to the large sides of the bed, as well as a mattress in two parts 14 and 15 with a mechanism ensuring movement of the movable part in relation to the fixed part, characterised by the fact that the said mechanism comprises three rollers 8, 9, 10 on each side, two of which are integral with one frame and the third with the other frame, and three ramps 11, 12, 13 for guiding these rollers concealed in the corresponding armrest 3. These ramps are shaped with opposite slopes to cause the frame of the seat 5 to rise at the same time as the frame of the back 6 is lowered, so as to ensure at least partial balancing of the weight. <IMAGE>
