PURPOSE:To prevent the crack flaw of the cast billet surface without generating a slipping on the cast billet and belt by forming the wavy form in the sectional view in the width direction of a belt on the belt by only the vicinity of the meniscus part of a mold. CONSTITUTION:A mold is composed of upper and lower belts 3, 1 and the right and left dam blocks 5 parallel to those traveling direction and provided on the both faces thereof and the whole body is inclined downward. A cast billet 8 is cast by feeding a molten metal 7 to this mold. A wavy form generating roll 11 is then brought into contact with the lower face of the lower belt 1 and provided between a nip pulley 2 and backup roll 12 also on the upper face of an upper belt 3 similarly. When a roll 11 is pressed to the lower belt 1 made of steel, the wavy form in the sectional view in the width direction is formed in the width direction of the belt 1 and the cast billet 8 lower face is formed as showing in a figure by a meniscus part 6a. The contraction in the width direction accompanied by the formation of the cast billet 8 is therefore converted into the contraction in the vertical direction and the slippage in the width direction of the cast billet 8 on the belt can be prevented. |
