An apparatus consisting of (a) air compressor (9), (b) a pair of column (12) filled with mol. sieve for adsorption of CO2 and H2O in compressed air, (c) a storage tank (5) for liq. N, (d) heat-exchanger (13,14) for cooling compressed air to ultralow temp. and (e) refining tower (18); liquefy O by bp difference between O and N and exhaust N as gas only. In the above, liq. N used as cryogen in heat-exchanger and, simultaneously, gasified N after exchanging is mixed with N gas from tower (18) to produce highly pure (99,999%) N.
