PURPOSE: To simultaneously obtain a high resolution and a large print width by a min. no. of print head rows by providing at least three rows and arranging phase-shiftedly neighboring write heads in one row and among the rows each other. CONSTITUTION: A deviation D between write heads of two neighboring rows whose print length A=(M-1)×S is given by D=(m+1/n)×S=A/n+1/n×S. An interval C between the last print element of one write head and the first print element of the next write head is given by C=(m+1+1/n)×S=D+S. In addition, a condition to the width B of the write head is generated. To B, B<=(m×n+m+1+1/n)×S=M×S+D=A+D+S=A+C is applied. In the figure, the lower part indicates possible recording dots. As it is understood from this, the resolution is raised to the recording dots of 12 per 1 mm over the whole print width being much larger than the print width of an individual write head.
