PURPOSE:To enhance the long-term shelf stability of a recorded image, by a method wherein thermal ink layers and a protective layer which is to be released and transferred similarly to the thermal ink layers after the transfer of the thermal ink layers for protecting the recorded image on a sheet to be subjected to transfer are successively aligned on the same surface of a transfer sheet substrate. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer sheet, on a transfer sheet substrate 5 successively coated with three color ink layers 1, 2, 3 in alignment a protective layer part 4 is formed to be even with these ink layers. As a result, the three color ink layers 1, 2, 3 and the protective layer part 4 are arranged in order, and a protective layer 7 is also constructed as to be released and transferred similarly to the ink layers. The protective layer 7 forming a protective layer part 4 is composed of an additive and a resin which inhibits a sublimating dye from resublimating from an image recorded on a sheet to be subjected to transfer and takes an effect to resistance to light. A material to be selected as the resin is softened and melted in the application of a thermal energy from the reverse of a substrate by a thermal head, thereafter immediately released from a release layer 6 as it is in layer form to transfer and adhere onto a sheet to be subjected to transfer by being pressed between a thermal head and a platen and applied with a thermal energy. |
