PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a computer programs against power usage by providing a step for deciding whether or not the number of bit changes can be reduced without affecting the function property of instruction words and a step or the like for changing one of the instruction words of the decision step. SOLUTION: In the step 61 of a code optimizing process, slot assignments are re-arrayed in a fetch packet. Instructions are checked by the slot assignments for the respective fetch packets and it is decided whether the instructions in the fetch packet can be re-arrayed or not so as to minimize the change of a function unit from a cycle to a cycle. Then, the instructions are changed by more than one code optimizing technique. Typically, the change brings a result for reducing cycle-to-cycle bit changes furthermore in a machine code and power consumption is saved. |
