摘要 |
PURPOSE:To produce a carbon fiber reinforced Al composite material without reducing the strength of the carbon fiber by coating the surface of the carbon fiber with oxide ceramics as a reaction barrier in a specified thickness. CONSTITUTION:When carbon fiber and Al (alloy) are converted into a composite material, the surface of the carbon fiber is coated with oxide ceramics as a reaction barrier in 0.01-1mum thickness so as to prevent the reduction of the strength of the carbon fiber by a reaction with Al. The oxide ceramics are stable and do not react with both the carbon fiber and matrix Al in a temp. range in which the composite material is produced and used. The resulting oxide ceramic coat may further be coated with a metal such as Ni, Cu, Mg or Al so as to improve the wetting and adhesion between the coat and matrix Al. Thus, high strength carbon fiber made from PAN can be used as reinforcing fiber for Al. |
