摘要 PURPOSE: To precisely grind a work uniformly at high speed without causing spiral streaking by calculating a contact ratio of a grinding wheel from a specified surface roughness of the work piece and setting the axial length of a first surface on a first peripheral surface of the grinding wheel as a function of the peripheral speed ratios and contact ratios of the grinding wheel and the work piece. CONSTITUTION: A grinding wheel 30 is allowed to abut on a work piece rotating in reverse direction at a cutting speed of Vs and a peripheral speed of Vw , and the grinding wheel 30 and the work piece 10 are fed in parallel with an axis 11 of the work piece 10 relatively to each other at a feeding speed of Vfa. The grinding wheel 30 is rotated about an axis 31 forming an angle 32 relative to the axis 11, and the first and second surfaces 44 and 45 of a first and a second peripheral surface parts 40 and 41 on the grinding wheel 30 are allowed to abut on a spiral cutting surface 16 and an axial peripheral surface 15 of each work piece 10 so as to grind the work piece 10 of dw in diameter cylindrically. In this case, the contact ratio U of the grinding wheel 30 is calculated from the surface roughness Rz of the work piece 10, and then a first surface length IN is set as U.Vs /Vw .(πdw /6):Vfa/Vs .10<-4> . As a result, the surface of the work piece 10 can be ground uniformly.
