The invention relates to a telescopic upright to be wedged between floor and ceiling and associated with a storage surface and its fixing on the upright. The telescopic upright comprises a casing 1 in which a core 3 slides. The connection between 1 and 3 is produced by a screw 4 which holds the upright at the right length and under compression. The core 3 projects from the casing 1 and receives, according to the ceiling height, one or more additional sections of casing. The storage surface is specifically shaped at each end for the fixing system 8-9-10-11. This system is designed for fitting out dwellings, offices and shops. <IMAGE>
