Holding magnet release, and a method for its production

A holding magnet release for low-voltage automatic switches, especially residual current devices, consists of a mainly U-shaped iron core (14), an armature (24) which can move with respect to the pole limbs (17, 18) of said core, a holding magnet (29) and a winding (19). These parts are accommodated in a two-piece housing (10) whose separating joint (13) runs horizontally and which is located close to the upper ends of the pole limbs (17, 18). The housing lower part (11) with the components (14, 19, 23, 29) accommodated therein is filled with potting resin. The volume of air in the housing is in consequence considerably reduced, and parts which are at risk of corrosion are protected against corrosion by embedding them in the potting resin. The bonding action of the potting resin additionally allows effective cleaning after assembly, just by immersion in a suitable cleaning liquid and/or by blowing with compressed air. It is even possible to replace the lower housing half by a potting mould, which is removed again once the potting resin has cured. <IMAGE>
