The invention relates to the elimination of interference by gas bubbles in measurements of turbidity in liquids and is particularly applicable to the measurement of the biomass concentration in fermentation media. For the on-line determination of the biomass concentration and thus to increase the accuracy of measurement the measured results are corrected according to the invention by using the different rates of change of the biomass concentration and of the gas bubble distribution in the fermentation medium.
