The patent application relates to a cooling-bed approach roller table leading to a rake-type (notch-type) cooling bed, consisting of an approach channel with sloping rollers, an apparatus for braking and ejecting the rolled bars via a sloping slide channel to a distributing brake-slide device which then transfers the rolled bars to the swinging rakes of the rake-type cooling bed, which place the bars in the first notch of the alignment plates of the cooling bed. According to the invention, the slide channel has, as a lateral extension, slide rails arranged at intervals and projecting over the area of the distributing brake slides, for the purpose of guiding the rolled bars ejected from the approach roller table to the distributing brake slides, and the individual distributing braking surfaces are placed in such a way in the area of the slide rails, by stepwise raising of the distributing brake slides, that they can each successively take up one rolled bar conveyed on to the slide rails. Significant advantages obtained are that a device has been created which treats the rolled stock gently, requires little expenditure on maintenance and servicing and requires less input power.
