A description is given of a butt-joint/peg connection of two hollow-profile mouldings having the same open cross-sectional profiles on the moulding end sides. Such mouldings may be used as vertical supports for pieces of work furniture. Each profile exhibits two threaded holes, located on an axis of symmetry, and a further cutout which is located beside the threaded holes. The pegs are configured as studs having a thread end and a peg end, and they are screwed into the threaded holes of one hollow profile moulding. The projecting peg ends received by the other hollow-profile moulding are spread out, transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the peg, by means of an insert piece which spans the further cutouts of the two hollow-profile mouldings. The spreading is effected by screw-bolts which can be actuated from the outside via openings in the relevant hollow-profile moulding.
