The fule injector for an i.c. engine improved valve structure whose valve-opening pressure is directly proportional to the fuel pressure. The fuel injector includes a nozzle holder having a value seat, a needle valve moveably mounted in the nozzle holder and biased against the valve seat by a nozzle spring acting on a movable spring seat fitted therebetween and a plunger moveably mounted in the nozzle holder and having one end on which fuel pressure acts. An actuator rod is disposed between the plunger and moveable spring seat with a small distance provided between the actuator rod and the spring seat. A plunger spring acts on the plunger to urge the latter agaisnt the fuel pressure acting on the plunger.
