PURPOSE:To improve the quality of an image formed on recording paper by charging a photosensitive body to the opposite polarity from toner prior to principal image forming operation by the electrostatic recording device. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive drum 2 is charged electrostatically by a corotron 8 for transfer to the negative polarity, i.e., opposite polarity from the toner used by a developing device 6 for development while electrostatic charging is performed by an electrostatic charging corotron 3 and the fatigue preprocessing of the drum 2 is performed by a diode array 4 and a short-focus lens array 5. In a figure, marks (+)and (-) indicate potentials of electrostatic charging by the corotron 3, mark Oshows the state after exposure, and 0V is the state after transfer. When an area B passes the position of a cleaning blade 17 as the drum 2 rotates, the area is charged electrostatically to the positive potential and waste toner deposited on the back surface of the blade 17 is charged electrostatically to the negative potential and attracted in the area B. The exposure of an image is started in an area C on the slight downstream side after the area B passes the position of exposure by the arrays 4 and 5 as the drum 2 rotates, and the image is developed at a development position; and recording paper 7 is inserted by a registration roller 12 at the position of the corotron 8 and the image is transferred. |
