PURPOSE:To perform regular and proper ignition timing control constantly in a system in which a fundamental ignition timing is corrected in response to the output from the knocking sensor by a method wherein the ignition timing correction toward spark delay is set to a higher value when the knocking is sensed at the cylinder with low sensitivity of knocking condition. CONSTITUTION:An igniter 4 for multi-cylinder type internal-combustion engine is controlled such that uniform ignition timing control is performed for a plurality of cylinders with the ignition timing instruction signal which is provided by correcting the fundamental ignition timing calculated by the outputs from an air flow meter 24 and a rotary angle sensor 52 in a digital control circuit 56 in response to the condition whether the knocking occurs or not. In this case, when the knocking is sensed at the cylinder with low sensitivity of knocking, e.g. the sixth cylinder of six-cylinder type internal combustion engine in said control circuit 56, the ignition timing correction value toward spark delay is controlled to show a higher value. In ths way, the excessive spark delay or excessive spark advance is eliminated to improve the output of the engine as well as the fuel consumption. |
