PURPOSE:To improve oxygen content without heating to high temperatures and obtain the above superconductor having excellent critical temperature and critical current density, by subjecting a specific oxide superconductor to oxidation treatment using ozone. CONSTITUTION:Powders of starting raw material compounds in amounts corresponding to the composition of the aimed oxide superconductor are mixed, formed into a required shape by a pressing device, etc., and then heat-treated at 800-1,100 deg.C for 1-100hr to afford a compact of an oxide superconductor expressed by the formula A-B-C-D (A is group IIIa element, such as Y, Sc, La, Yb, Er, Ho or Dy, of the periodic table; B is group IIa element, such as Sr, Ba or Ca; C is Cu or two or more elements including Cu in group Ib elements; D is one or more including O in group VIb elements, such as O, S or Se, and group VIIb elements, such as F, Cl or Br). The resultant compact is then subjected to ozone oxidation treatment at 0-150 deg.C in an atmosphere with 0.1-30% ozone concentration for 0.5-24hr. |
