PURPOSE:To render the surface of a plate base for a lead storage battery rough and strengthen the bonding of the plate base and an active material, by subjecting a lead- antimony alloy plate to anodic oxidation, immersing it in a bath of fused lead- antimony alloy, and followed by anodic oxidation-etching. CONSTITUTION:A stretched wire 2 made of a lead-antimony alloy is washed with an ultrasonic machine to remove its fat, and it is passed through a dilute-sulfuric- acid container 3. At this point, the stretched wire 2 works as a positive electrode and undergoes oxidation treatment, antimony being deposited on the surface of the wire 2. After that, this wire 2' is passed through a bath 8 containing fused lead- antimony allow which contains about 1% of antimony, a lead-antimony-alloy layer being formed on the surface of the wire 2'. The thus obtained wire 2'' is again passed through a dilute-sulfuric-acid container 10, the antimony in the eutetic crystal of the lead-antimony-alloy layer being dissolved by anodic-oxidation. Following that, this wire 2''' is washed in a washing container 14 and dried by means of a dryer 15, thus a core-metal strand with a rough surface being obtained. |
