Quaternized nitrogen containing compounds

The invention relates primarily to quaternized compounds having the formula wherein m and p are each integers having a value of from 1 to 4; R is alkylene having from 3 to 8 carbon atoms and is optionally substituted with C1 to C4 alkyl; R1 is alkyl or alkenyl having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; R2 and R3 are each independently selected from the group of -(CH2)pOR1, alkyl, alkylhydroxy, aryl, aralkyl, aralkenyl, alkaryl, and alkylene amidoalkyl radicals, said R2 and R3 groups having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a radical having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms; and X- is a chloride, bromide or iodide anion. The invention also relates to the preparation and use of said quaternized compounds.
