<p>The panel consists of a large number of solar cells embedded in thin layers of transparent insulating material with a single sheet of reflective foil on the back of the panel. The panel is divided into groups of cells. Within each group, the cells are linked together in series to provide the required potential, while the groups are connected in parallel to a flexible flat output cable. Each cell has copper connection strips, which are either soldered onto the rear side of a neighbouring cell or is soldered to positive or negative terminals. The insulation of the flexible cable is stripped away at precise intervals which coincide with the connection holes through the rear foil.</p> |
