PURPOSE: To transfer a metal image on a board by applying an electrical current pulse to a selected stylus of a recording head having a plurality of styli disposed to be brought into contact with a resistive layer of a resistive ribbon. CONSTITUTION: At the time of applying a current to a selected stylus 18 of printing styli 18, an electrical current represented by an arrow 22 flows through a resistive layer 16 and a metal conductive layer 14, and returns to a ground electrode 20 as represented by an arrow 24. If a current density in a region of the layer 16 near the styli 18 is sufficiently high, severe resistance heat is generated, and hence a small region 26 of the layer 16 transfers sufficient heat to a small region 36 of the adjacent metal layer 14. Heat generated in the region 36 is transferred to a small region 30 of a softenable receiving layer in contact with the region 36. Thus, the region 30 is melted or sufficiently softened. And, the region 30 pulls to take the region 36 of the layer 14. |
