The drive converter for a motor vehicle transmission has a steel casing (1) and a hub (12) and a toroidal wall (11). A plastic insert (3) has an external crown (33), and inner crown (34) fixed to the end of each of the vanes (31). The casing has an exterior (112) and an interior (113) seating and pressed stop surfaces. The insert is retained by the crowns and the edges of the vanes in the stop surfaces, and held in place by clips.
