PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yarn winding device with a light and inexpensive yarn cutting and holding mechanism, offering simple construction for facilitating the removal of a remaining yarn and maintaining a high probability of successful threading. SOLUTION: The yarn winding device comprises a bobbin 2 having an inclined portion 9 on the outer periphery of one end face and a yarn cutting and holding portion 8 for cutting a yarn and holding the cut yarn at its end in a grooved portion 7 formed in a contact area between the inclined portion 9 of the bobbin and the other end face 11 of a bobbin mounted adjacent the bobbin and/or in a contact area between the inclined portion of the bobbin and a bobbin receiving portion 12 of a spindle 1.
