PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display in which vertical magnification of a display image can be adjusted through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: An OSD control unit 1 reads out character code data, graphics data, attribute data and color data from a VRAM 2, and font data of the character code data and graphics data from a CGROM 3. A vertical display control circuit 5 and a horizontal display control circuit 6 are controlled to perform parallel/series conversion of the font data of character code data and graphics data read out from the CGROM 3 through a P/S circuit 11. An attribute control circuit 12 adds attribute data, a color control circuit 13 performs coloring and a magnification set register 7 sets a magnification. The vertical display control circuit 5 holds an address at an address converting position by an address conversion pulse from an address conversion circuit 8. Horizontal display line is inserted repeatedly, a vertically expanded image is displayed, and vertical magnification of the display image is altered and adjusted through a simple arrangement, thus displaying an image with an optimal visual touch.
