PURPOSE: To perform sterilization within a short period at relatively low temp. by hydrogen peroxide of low concn. by evaporating hydrogen peroxide under specific ultralow pressure so as to form a hydrogen peroxide atmosphere within a sterilizing chamber and holding the inner pressure of the sterilizing chamber to vapor pressure of hydrogen peroxide or less for a period sufficient to achieve reguired sterilization. CONSTITUTION: An object or article to be sterilized is arranged in a sterilizing chamber 20 and the sterilizing chamber is evacuated to about 20Torr or less, pref., about 1.0Torr or less by a vacuum pump 13 to inject an aq. soln. of hydrogen peroxide into the sterilizing chamber and hydrogen peroxide is evaporated during a period when the pressure in the sterilizing chamber is held to about 30Torr, pref., about 20Torr or less so as to form a hydrogen peroxide atmosphere. The amt. of hydrogen peroxide injected into the sterilizing chamber is set to about 0.1-10mg per l of the sterilizing chamber. The object to be sterilized is kept in contact with hydrogen peroxide vapor for a period sufficient to effectively achieve perfect sterilization. |
